Heather C. Briccetti
earned her Juris Doctor from Albany Law School of Union University in 1989. Her extensive legal background includes clerking for the Albany County District Attorney's office, serving as Chief Public Defender in Rensselaer County, and serving as a founding partner at the law firm of Sweeney & Wollowitz in the early 90's. Ms. Briccetti was appointed Special Counsel to the New York State Attorney General in 1996, and held that position until 1999, while simultaneously serving as Counsel to the Governor's Commission on Child Abuse and Neglect, which was successful in the enactment of “Elisa's Law.”
Ms. Briccetti's legislative expertise is built on the years she spent working for Assemblyman Michael Bragman, and as a Legislative Aide to Assemblyman Gregory P. Young. She later served as Counsel to the Assembly Racing & Wagering Committee. She was employed from 1999 to 2004 as Assistant Counsel to Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno. Her areas of expertise include casino gambling, Native American issues, economic development, Public Authorities, bonding, budget, IDAs, State taxation, Family Court, and the Sandy Hooks Pilots legislation. Ms. Briccetti has worked extensively on local and state economic development issues; she also was responsible for the J2K (Jobs 2000) legislation, the Javits Center expansion legislation, the State's film production tax credit, and Empire Zone legislation.
